Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 June 2026
SCADO ("SCADO", "we", "us") is an offline-first mobile app that helps you track the expiry dates of food in your home. This policy explains what data the app handles, what leaves your device, and your rights. SCADO is private by design: you do not need an account, and your inventory stays on your device.
Data controller
The data controller is [FULL LEGAL NAME OR ENTITY], [ADDRESS, COUNTRY]. For any privacy request, contact support@scado.app.
Data that stays on your device (not collected by us)
The following is stored locally on your device in an on-device database and is never transmitted to us:
- Your food inventory: product names, quantities, categories, and the dates you enter.
- Photos used for scanning: camera frames are processed on the device for barcode and date recognition and are not uploaded.
- App settings, language, notification preferences, and your local activity history.
Uninstalling the app, or using Settings > Privacy and data > Reset local data, removes this data from your device. You can export it at any time from the same screen.
Data that leaves your device: subscriptions (RevenueCat)
To manage the 14-day trial and the Premium subscription, SCADO uses RevenueCat, Inc. (United States) as a processor. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous app-user identifier generated by RevenueCat, used only to verify your entitlement and manage your subscription. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking and is not linked to your identity. The payment itself is processed by Apple or Google; we never receive your payment-card details.
Data that leaves your device: product look-up (Open Food Facts)
When you are online and product look-up is enabled, SCADO sends the scanned barcode only (EAN/UPC) to Open Food Facts to retrieve a product name and details. No personal or device identifier is sent with the request. This feature is optional; the app works fully without it.
What we do not do
- No analytics or usage-tracking SDKs.
- No advertising, advertising identifiers, or data brokers.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking, so SCADO does not ask for tracking permission.
Permissions
- Camera - to scan barcodes and read printed expiry dates; frames are processed on the device. The app remains usable with manual entry if you decline.
- Notifications - to send local reminders before food expires. The app remains fully usable if you decline.
International transfers
RevenueCat processes data in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention and deletion
On-device data is retained until you delete it (uninstall or "Reset local data"). Subscription records held by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat are retained according to their respective policies. You may request deletion of the data RevenueCat holds about you by emailing support@scado.app.
Children
SCADO is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to the processing of your personal data. Because your inventory is on your device, you exercise most of these rights directly in the app (export and delete). For data held by RevenueCat, contact support@scado.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
